How did Sarphati change the health of Amsterdam?

Sarphati’s compassion did not stop when he climbed the social ladder. In 1855 he founded the first flour and bread factory. This factory sold bread 30% cheaper than the average city baker. This meant that the poor of Amsterdam could eat good bread. It was even better for their health. By 1870, these kinds of efforts had significantly increased the average life expectancy in Amsterdam.

The nature play forest was designed by De Twee Heren from Grootebroek, with a lot of input from children from De Pijp, the neighbourhood around the park.
